Through the leadership of Bruce O`Neil, the Academy has developed and cultivated strong relationships with international basketball governing bodies and government officials, particularly in Asia and Europe.
Today, the USBA is proud to boast its partnership with the Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC). Together we educate and train ABC coaches and players from member countries. The Confederation not only relies on the USBA for player and coach development, but also helps the league identify and recruit top North American players and coaches to join its own professional teams.
In addition, the USBA enjoys and excellent relationship with the Chinese government and has an exclusive agreement to help develop the game at all age and skill levels through the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
Through intensive training sessions held at the USBA and at facilities in China, O`Neil and his coaches have assisted Chinese coaches in developing international stars, inlcuding Yao Ming of the Houston Rockets, Wang Zhi Zhi of the Los Angeles Clippers and Mengke Bateer of the San Antonio Spurs.
O`Neil`s extensive background and knowledge of sports in Asia is not only attracting more teams, players and coaches to the USBA ... the National Football League is working with him to help introduce American football (or as the Chinese say, `American OliveBall`) to the Chinese people.
From remote villages in China to the National Basketball Association, the USBA is committed to providing basketball knowledge to the world.
